Elliott Kitcher : YOUNG VOLUNTEER PROGRAM

WAH Cambodia Cataract Dr Rany with patient and young ambassador Elliott.jpg

2019 Cataract team of volunteers: during our 3-day surgical Mission, which resulted in the removal of 347 cataracts, Elliott was able to lend a humble helping hand:- by managing patient arrivals, preparing patients for surgery and guiding patients post-surgery to the recovery clinic. A truly once in a lifetime learning experience for a caring, thoughtful young teenager: the experience has motivated Elliott to take an active interest in social impact volunteer programs, and appreciate the value of helping people & communities in need. We welcome young helpers from all the world, to come visit & contribute in meaningful ways to education, healthcare and school clean water projects in Cambodia.

Kai and Talisa has been helping WAH over the years. Talisa was very involved in a charity dinner we held with Jia Foundation, where she played the guitar and helped raise funds during the dinner. She also played an active role in Cambodia, and loved playing with the orphanage and school children. Kai designed our previous website, and played an active role in the 2019 cataract mission, working in the surgery, and helping to get blood samples from the patients.

FELIX RIDGEWELL : YOUNG AMBASSADOR PROGRAM

“It's an absolute pleasure to be a junior ambassador for WAH. My desire to make a positive difference is what excites me every day. WAH has taught me that no matter what you do or how significant your actions are, everything counts in the end.

‘Impacting a child’s life won’t change the world, but for that child their world will forever be changed.’

My first voluntary service trip to Cambodia was in 2015: a humbling experience, after which I set out to do my best to help others in any way possible. Back at school in Singapore, I helped raise money to rebuild a village kindergarten, which had just 3 rooms & 2 outdoor toilets for over 90 children. In addition, we were also able to create a new long-term impact partnership with United World Schools for students, teachers & parents.

After my second school trip, we launched “Cambodia Awareness Week” to raise funds for local education & healthcare, through school learning sessions, fashion shows, assembly events & sports challenges.

Through family friendships I was fortunate to discover how helping an NGO like WAH can make a big difference. I can’t wait to discover what my future with WAH has in store & all the wonderful people associated with it.”
